D-day for Carroll over contract

ROY CARROLL is facing D-day over whether to extend his stay at Manchester United.

Carroll’s current deal expires at the end of the season and, so far, Carroll has stalled over signing a new one.

The 27-year-old’s advisors have been unsuccessful in their attempts to coax more money out of Red Devils chief executive David Gill, who insists the deal currently on the table is his final offer.

Although one more meeting is planned next week in the hope of adjusting the figures slightly, Carroll’s agent Francis Martin has admitted the time is now drawing close when the Irishman will have to decide whether he will stay or go.

There are suggestions the final outcome could hinge on whether Carroll is selected for Saturday’s Barclays Premiership encounter with Liverpool at Anfield.
