Melchiot interest from Villarreal

illarreal president Fernando Roig has confirmed Chelsea full-back Mario Melchiot is the club’s number one transfer target, while he also ruled out signing ex-Celtic star Henrik Larsson.

Dutch defender Melchiot was told he can leave Stamford Bridge after not being offered a new deal.

Larsson is searching for a new club after ending his fruitful seven-year association with the Scottish giants.

“We talked with Larsson but it is his intention to wait until after the European Championships and so we are no longer interested.”
