Bruce rues missed chances as Wolves hold Blues

The Blues drew 1-1 at Charlton last week. Colin Cameron had given Wolves a sixth-minute lead thanks to a spectacular shot which he curled home from the edge of the 18-yard area following a one-two with Henri Camara.

But the Blues came from behind to lead 2-1 at half-time after Mikael Forssell had danced around the Wolves defence and goalkeeper Paul Jones to equalise before Clinton Morrison scored his fifth goal of the season.

Then, with 15 minutes to go, Wolves hit back against the run of play after Robbie Savage had been penalised for a challenge on Camara.

Kennedy stepped up to unleash a thunderous 30-yard shot goalwards from the free kick which Maik Taylor stooped to collect but could only fumble into the path of Carl Cort who scored from close range.

The stalemate left manager Dave Jones’ Molineux side still marooned at the bottom of the Barclaycard Premiership table, six points from safety but with nine left to play for.

BIRMINGHAM: Maik Taylor, Clapham, Cunningham, Upson, Martin Taylor (John 83), Johnson, Savage, Clemence, Lazaridis (Hughes 61), Morrison, Forssell.

WOLVES: Jones, Luzhny (Ganea 60), Okoronkwo, Butler, Naylor, Newton, Ince, Cameron (Miller 88), Kennedy (Rae 83), Cort, Camara.

Referee: M Dean (Wirral).
