Limerick survive thanks to late penalty

Waterford, dominant for most of a low-key encounter, were coasting into the third round when Limerick substitute John O'Sullivan drove into the penalty area in the 93rd minute. He was sent tumbling by an awkward tackle from Brendan Rea and Stephen O'Flynn rattled home the penalty.

It was little short of a sensation. Waterford had led from the 43rd minute when Kevin O'Brien smashed home a spectacular volley from 25 yards and they spurned several chances of making their position secure in the second half.
