Eircom League player tests positive for banned substance

THE FAI last night confirmed that, following a random test, a player who competes in the eircom League has tested positive in A and B samples for a banned substance under the association’s Doping Control Regulations.

In accordance with the process set out in the regulations, the FAI has referred the matter to the Independent Doping Tribunal.

The three member tribunal which comprises a senior legal practitioner, a medical practitioner and a sports administrator will meet at a date to be announced.
