Goater goal steals point as 10-man Man City come back from the dead
City were two goals and a man down when Nicolas Anelka threw them a lifeline 11 minutes from time. The Frenchman had chances either side of that effort but Blackburn seemed to have weathered the home surge until Goater latched onto Sylvain Distin’s pull-back in the final minute and saw his shot loop in off Lucas Neill and Brad Friedel.
It was an unlikely end to a day which began with Irish international Richard Dunn being suspended by City for a ‘serious breach of conduct’ and also saw Danny Tiatto sent off just six minutes after his introduction for a lunge on David Thompson.
