Sheringham in ‘no hurry’ to decide on his future
Sheringham’s representative Barry Nevill revealed he had been approached by several Barclaycard Premiership sides keen to sign the 37-year-old former England international since he left Tottenham.
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley believes there will be “no shortage of takers” for Sheringham, adding: “We know Teddy is available and he would find us quite attractive.
“I need to find out from the chairman exactly what we have got, but I know Teddy has a lot to offer and there will be no shortage of takers.”
Clubs from Portugal, Spain, Japan, the United States, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are also pursuing Sheringham.
But Nevill insisted the player, told by Spurs just before the end of the season that he would not be offered a contract extension, is not in a rush to decide on his future.
“From day one, Teddy’s said he’ll look at everything. So, at the moment, he’s looking at what’s on the table and thinking about the different offers he’s received. He’s not in any hurry so it could well be another couple of weeks or even longer before he makes a decision.”
