Park completes United switch

PARK JI-SUNG yesterday passed his Man United medical and completed his £4m move from PSV Eindhoven to the Red Devils, and immediately walked into a club v country row.

Park completes United switch

South Korean coach Jo Bonfrere is likely to request the 24 year-olds services for the World Cup qualifier with Saudi Arabia in Seoul on August 17, the Koreans require a win to seal top spot in their group and enhance their chances of a better seeding.

Under FIFA regulations, Bonfrere will not be allowed to invoke the five-day release rule because the August date is not officially designated for qualifying fixtures. But if United’s opening Premiership fixture against Everton is put back from Saturday, August 13, Park is unlikely to be able to play for club and country, while the long journey back after the international is virtually certain to sideline him for the home encounter against Aston Villa on August 20.
