Ballack motivated by money: Hoeness
The 29-year-old German midfielder has been tipped for a move to Stamford Bridge when he becomes a free agent, and Bayern have said they expect him to become a Chelsea player.
Hoeness said: “It was always clear that Michael did not want to learn a new language or a new culture but a new currency. It was obviously only about money.”
Hoeness says Chelsea are capable of paying wages Bayern could not consider.
“It would be ridiculous if we tried to challenge someone like Abramovich,” said Hoeness, who insists he will part with Ballack on the best of terms.
“I have absolutely no animosity towards Michael. I have no problem when a players seeks a change after four years with FC Bayern.
“We will grant him a nice farewell. But he should have been honest and said ‘I am leaving because I want to earn more money’.”
