Ricksen ‘would not be missed’

THE majority of Rangers fans would be happy to see Fernando Ricksen sold in the summer, according to supporters’ group chief John Macmillan.

Rangers have revealed that the Dutchman, who is about to enter the final year of his current contract, has turned down two offers for an extension.

And that, according to Rangers Supporters Alliance general secretary Macmillan, means Rangers must cash in on him now to avoid losing him for nothing.

He said: “If guys don’t want to play for Rangers they should leave, it’s as simple as that.

“Rangers had their fingers burned a few years ago when Brian Laudrup left for nothing and I think it is the right way to go.

“And I think the fans feel that if a player stays just to see out his contract you won’t get the best out of him in his final year.

“Let him go if he wants to, that’s the general consensus.”
