Inspirational Davids still has major role with Spurs, insists Jol

MARTIN JOL insists Edgar Davids’ relegation to the bench is only temporary and claims the Dutch star’s mentality has inspired Tottenham’s drive for Champions League football.

For only the second time since his summer arrival Davids was included among the substitutes with Finland midfielder Teemu Tainio preferred for Saturday’s showdown with Manchester City.

The 33-year-old watched from the sidelines as strikes from Paul Stalteri and Michael Carrick bagged Spurs three crucial points in the battle for fourth place.
