EVERTON boss David Moyes believes it was “never in doubt” that the team finishing in fourth place in the Premiership should secure Champions League football.

The FA confirmed this week the top four will go into Europe's elite competition next season regardless of what Liverpool do in the final in Istanbul later this month.

It means four points from three games will guarantee Everton a place in the Champions League qualifiers next term, and victory over Newcastle in the home league game of the season at Goodison Park could prove to be enough if Liverpool fail to win at Arsenal tomorrow.
