Evergreen Teddy hopes Charlie will be a chip off the old block

WEST HAM striker Teddy Sheringham is hoping his son can carry on where he leaves off once he finally hangs up his boots.

At two days short of 40, the former England international is already the oldest outfield player in the top flight and is on course to break Gordon Strachan's record next season.

West Ham are also 90 minutes away from virtually clinching a UEFA Cup spot for next term via the FA Cup so 2006-07 could turn out to be a memorable one even for a man who has a Champions League winners' medal on his CV.
