Solskjaer set for shock United return

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer is set to make a comeback in Manchester United’s reserve-team against Liverpool on Monday.

Solskjaer set for shock United return

The Norwegian, scorer of the goal which won United the Champions League in 1999, has not made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils since coming on as a substitute in the 2003 FA Cup final win over Millwall.

Earlier this week, United boss Alex Ferguson played down Solskjaer’s chances of a return, even hinting the 32-year-old was struggling to win his battle with a knee injury.

However, it now appears Solskjaer is expected to play some part against Liverpool.

“On Tuesday he hadn’t trained with the first team at all but he has trained with us for the first time and he looked absolutely terrific. I am really pleased and there is light at the end of the tunnel,” said Ferguson.
