Boro decide against UEFA appeal

MIDDLESBROUGH have announced they will not appeal against UEFA’s decision to fine them €6,500 for their fans’ ‘improper conduct’ in the European tie away to Banik Ostrava.

On Friday, European football’s governing body announced both clubs would be fined following crowd trouble in the UEFA Cup second round, second leg tie. Banik were fined €26,000.

Home fans threw missiles from the stands and set off a pyrotechnic device after earlier clashing with travelling Boro supporters before the game. Czech fans also directed racial abuse at some Boro fans, for which Banik were also condemned.
