Dindane: Celtic defenders are dangerous fools

ANDERLECHT striker Aruna Dindane launched an astonishing broadside at Celtic’s defenders last night, branding them “dangerous fools” and claiming he was lucky to escape from Parkhead on Wednesday without serious injury.

Celtic crushed Anderlecht 3-1 in their Champions League Group A clash to avenge their 1-0 defeat in Brussels two weeks ago and give themselves a realistic chance of reaching the last 16.

But Dindane, Anderlecht's goalscorer, was scathing of Celtic's tactics and said, despite picking up a booking that will keep him out of the next match against Lyon on November 25, he was happy to be still in one piece.

“Celtic were faster than us, but they were also far more aggressive. I am happy that I didn't end up with a broken leg. I have never seen such violence from defenders.

“Those dangerous fools got away with hip-high tackles and dirty fouls and I was even punched in the face. Really, I am glad I kept my physical integrity in Glasgow.”

He admits that being booked for handball was ‘stupid’, but added: “I was booked out of pure frustration. If the referee had been better, I would never have reacted like that. I feel sorry I will miss the game against Lyon.”

Anderlecht coach Hugo Broos said: "We were so bad defensively in Glasgow. By playing like that we were asking to get beaten. Our positioning was very weak and we lost all our duels. I really could not believe my eyes.

“This level is higher than the Belgian league, of course, but we had no excuse. Our aim is to qualify for the UEFA Cup but it will be difficult because we will miss Aruna Dindane for the game against Lyon and we absolutely have to beat the French.
