Jansen out for three weeks after surgery

BLACKBURN striker Matt Jansen could be out for three weeks after having an operation yesterday to treat a cartilage problem.

The 27-year-old’s career has been hit by injury since a freak scooter accident two years ago.

The former Crystal Palace forward returned to the first team after the appointment of Mark Hughes as manager and scored against Portsmouth on his first appearance of the season.

He scored again against Birmingham but now faces another spell on the sidelines.

“Matt had a small operation this morning to trim knee cartilage,” said Rovers assistant boss Mark Bowen.

“It’s a tiny piece of work and we believe it should be a fairly quick recovery. I am guessing, but I reckon maybe two to three weeks before he is back in action completely.”

Meanwhile, Bowen confirmed Lorenzo Amoruso was moving closer to fitness after his knee operation.
