Fredrik Ljungberg is also hoping to be able to face Liverpool despite his broken hand. The Arsenal boss could otherwise give Sylvain Wiltord his first start since December after injury problems, while Dennis Bergkamp and Gilberto Silva are also hoping for recalls. Liverpool are expected to be unchanged from the side that beat Blackburn 4-0 although manager Gerard Houllier may consider an extra defensive midfield player in Danny Murphy instead of El-Hadji Diouf. Vladimir Smicer and Salif Diao could be back in the squad after injury.

Last season: Liverpool 2 Arsenal 2; Arsenal 1 Liverpool 1
