SOUTHAMPTON are refusing to be unsettled by continuing reports linking James Beattie with a move away from the Premiership club.

Saints chairman Rupert Lowe has accused the media of “dredging up old quotes” that no player can be made to play at a club against his will.

The club insists the England striker has not submitted a transfer request and no one has yet made a bid for Beattie which comes near the Southampton valuation.
