CORK CITY'S new signings were to the fore as they overcame Avondale United in the Munster Senior Cup quarter-final at Bishopstown yesterday.

Avondale provided a vigorous first-half challenge but two goals in three second-half minutes settled the issue.

Neale Fenn and Stephen O'Flynn were prominent for Cork on their debuts. Fenn was particularly good in the first-half while O'Flynn, who was with Limerick last season, scored Cork's second goal after 72 minutes. Cork's first came from Kevin Doyle after ten minutes and George O'Callaghan scored the third on 75 minutes.
