No appeal for Rangers

Rangers have decided not to appeal against Nacho Novo’s three-match ban for violent conduct during a stormy Old Firm derby last month.

Novo will now miss Sunday’s trip to Kilmarnock, the trip to Dundee Utd on January 1 and the home game with Dunfermline on January 15.

However, he is free to play at home to Motherwell on December 27, then the Tennent’s Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park on January 9.

There was some good news sent to Ibrox from SFA headquarters at Hampden Park in the wake of the stormiest Old Firm derby in years.

The SFA confirmed that Bob Malcolm, who has just signed a two-year contract extension, will not face any disciplinary action.

The red cards handed to Novo and Henri Camara brought the total from the game to four, with Alan Thompson and Chris Sutton also being dismissed.

Camara will miss two matches compared to Novo’s three as he had fewer disciplinary points to begin with.
