Bayern blow as Santa Cruz ruled out for 6 months

BAYERN Munich say Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz will be sidelined for six months after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win over FC Cologne.

“This is a catastrophe for Roque (24) and us,” said Bayern manager Felix Magath. “The timing could not be any worse as he is playing brilliantly, scoring goals and we were all convinced he had made the breakthrough.”

Meanwhile Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists striker Roy Makaay needs to up his workrate considerably if he wants to end his recent goal drought.
