URUGUAYAN international Pablo Garcia says he is realising a lifelong ambition by joining Real Madrid.

Madrid hoping new Uruguayan duo are Real deal

Garcia and fellow Uruguayan international Carlos Diogo were officially presented as Real’s first close season signings yesterday.

“It is a dream come true. I want to defend the team’s shirt until the bitter end,” Garcia told a news conference.

“I want to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me and hope I will be able to repay them on the field of play.”

Garcia, 28, has agreed a four-year contract after moving from Osasuna. He is a combative midfielder likely to compete with Denmark’s Thomas Gravesen in the midfield holding role.

Diogo, 21, left Argentine side River Plate to sign a five-year contract at the Bernabeu. He is a versatile right back who is also comfortable in midfield.

The Uruguayans, essentially defensive players, will add depth and balance to a Real side which has been burdened with an over abundance of attack-minded players over the last two seasons.
