McGrath on trial at struggling Walsall

CHRIS McGRATH, son of former Irish international Paul, has joined Walsall on trial with a view to earning a contract with the English first Division strugglers.

Chris, a central defender like his father, was released by Liverpool last year, having spent three years at Anfield on trainee terms.

He was first capped for Ireland at under 16 level by Brian Kerr in September 2000, when he came on as a half time substitute in a 3-1 defeat to England at Walsall.
