Quality is no borderline decision

THE influx of foreign players into the Premiership has not harmed England's international team, according to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman sparked an outcry over the numbers of foreign stars in the top flight when he named a 16-man squad for the 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace which did not include one British player.

It led to suggestions that England's national team would soon be ruined if clubs did not give homegrown talent the chance to flourish.
