King ruled out of England’s clash with Denmark

TOTTENHAM centre-half Ledley King is out of England’s friendly against Denmark next week with a slight groin tear.

It is the same injury which plagued King throughout last season but the England international played on through the pain to complete the season as an ever-present in Tottenham’s colours.

Spurs coach Martin Jol confirmed that King would be absent from Sven-Goran Eriksson’s squad as well as the club’s opening Premiership fixture against Portsmouth and that could pave the way for new signing Edgar Davids to captain the side on his first game in the English top flight.
