Delaney happy to answer questions on funding

JOHN DELANEY is prepared to appear before the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions on how public monies are used by the FAI.

The association is to face an Irish Sports Council-backed audit of 15 training and development programmes run by the organisation. The decision to conduct an independent audit follows a request by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for information on the running of footballing Summer Schools, which received ISC funding of €75,000 as well as sponsorship from Pepsi, and reportedly generated a profit of €112,000 in 2003.

The schools were run in conjunction with the FAI Regional Development Officers (RDO) and attracted 16,000 youngsters across the country.
