Gunners table £10m offer for Canizares

ARSENAL confirmed yesterday that they have been in contact with Valencia with a £10 offer for Spanish international goalkeeper Santiago Canizares.

Canizares, 34, is the first choice of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to replace David Seaman, who has left Highbury to join Manchester City.

“I know Arsenal have made an offer and I’m flattered, but at the moment I’m only worried about playing well in the last two games of the season,” Canizares said.

On the down side, Jermaine Pennant is preparing for showdown talks with Wenger over his future at Highbury.

The 20-year-old midfielder has revealed his frustration at the lack of first-team chances.

He believes that his future may lie elsewhere if matters do not improve for him at Highbury.
