Mind games begin as Jose fancies United
Mourinho believes the gap at the top, which will stretch to 14 points if Arsene Wenger's side win, will be too vast for Ferguson's men to overcome.
Arsenal just need a draw against United to increase their record unbeaten Premiership run to 50 games and while Mourinho is convinced defeat for United will be the end of their title chances, he still thinks the Red Devils will come out on top tomorrow.
Mourinho said: "If Manchester United fail, they will be too far out of the fight. It will be over. If Arsenal lose then it will also be their first test psychologically.
"But if we don't beat Blackburn then I will not watch that match anyway. I will change channels and watch a Spanish game or something.
"Arsenal will be 14 points ahead of United by winning and, providing we beat Blackburn, they (United) will also be nine behind us. That would make it very difficult for them and they know it. That is why I think they won't lose."
Mourinho is no stranger to the mind games played by Ferguson in the run up to and during big games and the Chelsea manager believes tomorrow's tussle has already started psychologically.
When Mourinho was in charge of Porto last season, Fergie accused his players of diving but that didn't stop the pair getting together in the home dressing room for a cosy chat.
Mourinho has got to know both Wenger and Ferguson well while attending UEFA's top coaching meetings and he says that while both managers will be doing all they can to win the mind games war beforehand, they still respect and admire each other.
Mourinho added: "I've been to the UEFA meetings for the last three or four years and have met them both.
"We all know each other but they have a very good relationship and respect each other. They have dined at the same table and spoken about football. In the last two years at these meetings I have been in the same group as them and they have talked about football and shared their opinions. They are good friends. But when the big game arrives one of them is the boss of his ship and vice-versa. I enjoy the mind games but after Porto played United last season, Alex was in our dressing room after the game and when we played them at Stamford Bridge he was in my office afterwards.
Meanwhile, Mourinho yesterday denied that Adrian Mutu threatened him during their bust-up over the shamed striker's decision to play for Romania in their World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic.
Mutu, who is understood to have begun his counselling for his drug abuse problem, claimed he felt like hitting the Chelsea boss when the pair clashed over his decision to play for his country.
He said: "I admit that in the heat of our confrontation, I did threaten Mourinho and in a moment of total madness I almost hit him."
Mutu's fall-out with Mourinho over his international duty has since been overtaken by the striker's drug test failure.
But Mourinho said: "It is simply not true. It was not true that I forbade him to go and play. I saw him only twice when he came back from the Czech Republic. The first was in training on the Monday and then in a meeting. There were not many words or emotions between us. He is not saying the truth. Perhaps he has nightmares about me."
