Berlusconi resigns from AC Milan

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has resigned as president of Serie A champions AC Milan.

Berlusconi has been forced to step down due to legislation passed in July which prevents him running private businesses while in office.

The post will be temporarily vacant, according to the club's official website.
