Early trip to weary French key to success

MICK McCARTHY worked to a simple formula when he approached negotiations with opponents on dates for upcoming matches in World Cup and European Championships.

His philosophy was that it would benefit Ireland's cause if they were to set up matches as soon as possible against teams coming off championship finals.
