Berkovic quits Pompey to return home

ISRAELI midfielder Eyal Berkovic has left Portsmouth by mutual consent.

The former Manchester City star moved to Fratton Park a year ago but recently told the club he wanted to continue his career back in his homeland.

Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric said: “Eyal Berkovic has decided to finish with football in England and has asked if he can return to Israel so his contract has been cancelled by mutual agreement.

“This is completely in line with our policy during this period of helping players who want to leave the club.
