Abu staying, insist DC

DC UNITED have insisted Freddy Adu is not for sale and claim they have received no bid for the 16-year-old prodigy.

The club made its announcement following reports that Chelsea had lodged a £5m bid for the Ghana-born forward.

“Freddy Adu is a member of DC United and we expect him to remain so through the 2007 season,” said United president and chief executive officer Kevin Payne. “Neither we nor the league has had any conversations with any club about a transfer of Freddy.”
