FA charge Gillingham’s Roberts

GILLINGHAM striker Iwan Roberts has been charged with two counts of improper conduct for comments made in his autobiography.

FA charge Gillingham’s Roberts

In the book, “All I want for Christmas”, Roberts admitted deliberately stamping on Kevin Muscat during a match for his former club Norwich.

Roberts insisted “common sense should prevail” over the issue after leaving the Canaries in the summer.

The FA charged him with bringing the game into disrepute by committing serious foul play and for claiming he was “motivated by revenge”.

Roberts wrote that the clash was in retaliation for a tackle by Muscat on his then team-mate Craig Bellamy.

He has until Monday, September 13 to respond to the charges.
