Lions devour West Ham

WEST HAM boss Alan Pardew conceded his side had been outplayed after their hammering by Millwall at the New Den yesterday.

Lions devour West Ham

Millwall 4 West Ham 1

“We’ve been well beaten today. Millwall kept it scrappy and we couldn’t cope with it. We’ve got to be braver and be up to the fight,” Pardew said. West Ham’s defensive frailties were fully exposed when Matthew Etherington gifted Millwall an early penalty which Neil Harris failed to convert. However, a Millwall goal was inevitable and Hammers skipper Christian Dailly was the provider on 33 minutes when he redirected a harmless Tim Cahill cross into his own net. In a frantic second period, Dailly was again at fault, Cahill was given space to double the Lions’ lead with a sweet header. But David Livermore’s hand-ball allowed Marlon Harewood to halve the deficit from the spot.
