New Irish manager could kick-off reign against Sweden

THE Republic of Ireland have lined up friendly home games against Sweden and the Netherlands next year.

New Irish manager could kick-off reign against Sweden

The games are scheduled as preparation for the European Championship qualifiers which commence next Autumn, but it’s still not clear if a new manager will be installed by the time Sweden are due to play on March 1st.

With the FAI’s search for a replacement for Brian Kerr ongoing, the expectation now is that it will be the new year at the earliest before a new manager takes up the reins. However, if the March 1st date also comes and goes, then it’s likely that U21 coach Don Givens will take charge of the senior team for the Swedish game.
