Hudderfield win play-off battle

Defending a 2-1 advantage from the first leg at Sincil Bank, Town were heading for heartbreak as two first half goals in the space of 60 seconds from Lincoln pair Richard Butcher and Kevin Ellison turned the tie on its head.

But Danny Schofield’s 57th-minute penalty and Edwards’ 83rd-minute drive kept the Terriers on course for promotion.

Bristol City 2 Hartlepool 1 (Bristol City win 3-2 on aggregate)

A LATE strike from Bristol City frontman Christian Roberts secured a Division Two play-off semi-final victory over Hartlepool at Ashton Gate.

City, beaten by Cardiff at the semi-final stage last year, drew 1-1 at Victoria Park on Saturday before going behind to Antony Sweeney’s 63rd-minute stooping header in the return.

But a gutsy comeback by the Robins saw substitute Marc Goodfellow, on as a 73rd-minute replacement for Brian Tinnion, nod home a right-wing cross from Roberts in the 88th minute to seemingly force the game intoextra-time.

Then, in the third minute of six added on as stoppage time by referee Graham Poll, Roberts advanced into the Hartlepool box to slot a sidefooted effort past goalkeeper Jim Provett.
