Boro can rout Roma, says confident McClaren

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Steve McClaren has urged his players to send shockwaves across Europe by dumping Italian giants Roma out of the UEFA Cup.

The Serie A aristocrats arrive on Teesside tonight, defending a 16-game unbeaten run but having already seen their record run of 11 successive league victories brought to an end, by a home draw with Inter Milan, on Sunday.

Luciano Spalletti’s side are favourites to reach the quarter-finals despite the absence of injured strikers Francesco Totti and Vincenzo Montella, and suspended midfielder Daniele De Rossi.
