Gunners ‘need killer instinct’

CAPTAIN Patrick Vieira has called upon Arsenal to develop the killer instinct needed to transform them into genuine Champions League contenders this season.

Gunners ‘need killer instinct’

Vieira believes Arsenal are one of six or seven sides with the ability to win the competition, though he says Juventus are his favourites. For where he says the Gunners have often fallen short, in not ever progressing past the quarter-final stage, is in failing to close games down when they take the lead.

Vieira, whose side face Inter Milan at Highbury tonight, said: “We’ve been really frustrated in the past few years and hope to get off to a good start. It’s more mental than anything else. We have not played our best in the big games,” he said.
