Derry have chance to go top

DERRY CITY can go top of the eircom Premier Division tonight with a victory over Longford Town at the Brandywell.

Unbeaten after three games, the Candystripes have one game in hand over their rivals at the top of the table.

Brian Cash (hamstring), Eamon Doherty (calf) and Barry Molloy (knee) are all absent, though Sean Hargan may return from a foot problem, though manager Stephen Kenny will once again use 19-year-old Ruaidhrí Higgins as the anchorman in midfield. Longford manager Alan Mathews has a selection headache with captain Barry Ferguson returning after illness.

However, in Ferguson’s absence on Friday, Longford kept their first clean sheet of the season against Shamrock Rovers and Mathews must decide whether to recall his captain or stick with Stephen Paisley and Sean Dillon.
