Player died from heart failure

FC UTRECHT defender David Di Tommaso died of acute heart failure, his club announced yesterday.

A post-mortem examination suggested an irregular heartbeat was probably responsible for the 26-year-old’s death at his home in the early hours of Tuesday,

“More research is being done as we speak,” a spokesperson for the club said. “In the summer of 2004, when Di Tommaso joined us from (French club) Sedan he underwent the usual medical examinations that are based on the current strict international rules.”
