DENNIS BERGKAMP will spend another season with Arsenal after agreeing a one-year contract extension with the Premiership champions.

The Dutch striker, who reaches his 35th birthday on Monday, has seven goals from 35 games this season. He said he was delighted to have extended his stay at the north London club.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "Dennis is a great professional and I know his experience and natural ability will continue to help us greatly next season."

Bergkamp who scored 36 goals in 79 appearances for Holland is widely recognised as one of the most successful foreign imports to the English top flight.

He signed for Arsenal in 1995 for £7.5 million after a disappointing spell in Italy with Inter Milan.

Bergkamp was a key performer in the double-winning side of 1997-98, scoring a host of contenders for goal of the season.
