Premiership club in Lopez bid

River Plate confirmed that an unnamed Premiership club have made an offer for their striker Maximiliano Lopez.

The 20-year-old, who played for Argentina in the 2001 U-17 World Championship, has come to the fore of River’s attack following the recent departure of Fernando Cavenaghi to Spartak Moscow.

Last month, the Argentinians rejected an offer of £3m from Ukraine outfit Shakhtar Donetsk for the striker. However, River have now admitted an unknown Premiership side has also come forward with an increased bid for Lopez.
