HSE plan to tackle A&E crisis roundly criticised

MEDICAL representatives, patient groups and opposition parties have thrown cold water on the Health Service Executive's (HSE) battle plan for tackling the country's ongoing A&E crisis.

The HSE is planning to curtail the number of patients travelling to Dublin hospitals for non-emergency surgery if it is available in their own hospital.

The HSE has said that the introduction of new units at three Dublin hospitals should improve the A&E situation.
