Reyes to follow Henry’s steps

ARSENAL’S new signing, Jose Reyes, has set his sights on matching Thierry Henry’s rapid development into a worldwide star.

Henry may have already won the World Cup with France when he arrived at Highbury in 1999, but was still not a respected top-class forward.

Reyes has also arrived at Highbury with the huge promise as a winger, with Arsenal boss setting about another conversion act into making him a second striker.

While he is a different player to Henry, they share not only innate belief in their own ability, but also the priceless quality of pace.

Reyes, who has made just four starts for Arsenal so far, said: "I think Mr Wenger will help me improve as part of the team and maybe I can become a star in the same way that Thierry Henry has.

"It is very easy to play with the best players, such as Thierry. We speak the same language the language of football."

Reyes has some way to go if he hopes to match Henry's influence, but he showed what he is capable of with his own first goal in the FA Cup fifth round tie against Chelsea.
