Xavi snubs Premiership big guns to stay with Barca

COVETED Barcelona midfielder Xavi has said he is in talks with the Catalan giants over a new contract.

The Spanish international has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United this season but insists he wants to stay at the Nou Camp.

His current deal expires in 2007 and the Barca vice-captain revealed talks have started about extending it further.

“We’re working on an agreement,” he said. “The club want me to extend the contract and I feel like this is my home. I want to be here for many more years, though I’m very flattered that other clubs are looking at me,” he said.

Barca look set to seal their first league title since 1999 this season and could win the championship this weekend if results go their way.
