Wenger in no panic to splash cash

ARSENE WENGER declared his faith in his “outstanding” squad as he insisted he would not be forced into the transfer market during the January window.

However, Wenger, who has been scouring Europe for potential new signings, is ready to splash out if he finds the right player available at the right price.

Wenger has significant funds at his disposal, having missed out on his main summer target Julio Baptista.

However, while he has been linked with interest in forwards Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuijt among others, the Arsenal boss underlined his faith in his existing players.

Wenger, who signed Jose Antonio Reyes in January 2004 for a fee potentially rising to £17m, said: “All I can say at the moment is that we have not had any contact with anybody.”
