THE delay over the transfer of Maciej Zurawski does not mean the Polish international is turning his back on Celtic, according to the selling club’s president.

The 28-year-old held two days of talks with Hoops boss Gordon Strachan last week and, after receiving a contract offer, was supposed to have given them a definitive answer by yesterday.

But now that will not happen for another two days and Turkish club Trabzonspor remain keen rivals for his signature.

Many Hoops fans fear the delay means he is holding out for more money elsewhere and although the Turks are a provincial club they are also bankrolled by big money from Istanbul.

But Wisla Krakow president Janusz Basalaj assured Hoops fans that the player was more cautious than greedy.

He said: “He has until June 30 now and doesn’t want to hurry the situation.

“Maciej is a guy with a good character. He thinks very fast only on the football pitch; off it he thinks much more slowly.
