Chelsea stutter into last eight

CLAUDIO RANIERI got out of jail at Stamford Bridge last night as his 4-5-1 formation left Chelsea looking anything but convincing, yet they made it through to the quarter-finals thanks to their 1-0 victory in Germany a fortnight ago.

If anything is going to save Ranieri from the sack in the summer then surely winning the Champions League will be a big help although even that will not guarantee the Italian coach his place at Stamford Bridge next season.
