O’Neill shocked by SFA’s appeal dismissal

MARTIN O’NEILL yesterday claimed he was shocked at the Scottish FA’s decision to dismiss Celtic’s appeal over Alan Thompson’s controversial Old Firm sending-off.

Thompson was shown a straight red card by referee Kenny Clark in a first-half flashpoint when he brushed the face of Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands with his head.

O’Neill said later the Dane had play-acted and was confident of a successful appeal.
